Menopause simply means a “pausing of menstruation”.  The Peri-Menopause, meaning “around menopause”, is the period of time leading up to the menopause.

If that was all that the Menopause involved then I think most women would be quite happy to accept that.  However, there is so much more that comes with the onset of the menopause.

My first encounter with Reiki happened by chance.  After a difficult birth, I took my new-born son to an appointment and the therapist intuitively sensed that it was me that needed treatment recommending that I see a Reiki practitioner.  My journey with Reiki began.

My first Reiki session had a profound effect on my life.  It was with a wonderful Reiki practitioner, Carol, and I felt like layers of emotional baggage had been peeled away during the session. 

I believe it opened my heart and mind, slowly but surely, to my true purpose in life and helped me to connect with my core self.  It was the start of my journey with Reiki.

Many of us are embracing and experiencing the benefits of alternative therapies for ourselves, but what about our young people? More than ever, the pressures on our teenagers are huge.

From exam stress to social media peer pressure, hormonal changes to sleep deprivation; they are already experiencing many of the stressors and anxieties usually reserved for adulthood. 

So why aren’t we doing more to help them? Why save the benefits of alternative therapies, such as reflexology, until they are adults?

Like many of us, I have had that January feeling for the last week. My whole body felt tired and sluggish, and I was waking up in the morning still feeling exhausted. I really felt the need for a boost. So I arranged a reflexology swap with another reflexologist.

Wow, do I feel better after my reflexology treatment. My feet feel light and springy, and I feel totally energised. I had the best night’s sleep the night after the treatment that I had had for ages.
